Apple Vision Pro Debuts First Feature Film Starring Iconic Character Originally Preinstalled on iPhone

Posted on 6 May 2025

Apple is set to launch its first feature-length immersive film, titled “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” specifically crafted for the Apple Vision Pro headset. The film will be released on May 30, 2025, and promises to deliver a unique entertainment experience tailored for users of Apple’s spatial computing device.

In addition to being available on the Vision Pro, it will also be accessible on Apple TV+ in a standard format. Adding a humorous touch to the announcement, tech journalist Mark Gurman shared his thoughts on social media, poking fun at a past incident when Apple automatically added a U2 album to every iPhone user’s Apple Music library in 2014.

This move had mixed reception among users, particularly those who were not fans of the band, and Gurman joked, “Hopefully it’s not pre-installed.” While Apple has yet to reveal the exact runtime of “Bono: Stories of Surrender,” it is categorized as a “feature-length” film, which generally means it will be at least 40 minutes long.

This marks a notable departure from the shorter immersive videos previously available on the Vision Pro, making it a significant addition to the device’s content portfolio. The timing of this release appears strategic, reflecting Apple’s dedication to enriching the Vision Pro’s content offerings.

With the device priced at $3,499, exclusive content like this is crucial for attracting and retaining early adopters. It positions Apple to differentiate itself from competitors like Meta Quest, which has a wider library focused on games and apps rather than high-quality cinematic experiences.

Overall, the Bono film is a demonstration of Apple’s vision for high-fidelity, personal media consumption, emphasizing its commitment to developing premium content for the Vision Pro.
