Samsung recently initiated the stable rollout of One UI 7 for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 in South Korea. Initially, I expected that many European countries, and even the US, would receive this update shortly thereafter.
However, the rollout took longer than anticipated, with users in both the US and Europe left waiting until now to receive the much-anticipated update. If you own a Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, or S24 Ultra, you should be on the lookout for a notification about the available update.
However, it’s essential to note that those with carrier-locked versions of these devices may not receive the update immediately. Currently, the stable One UI 7 update is available only for unlocked models in the US.
It is expected that the update will eventually reach all users of Galaxy S24 series devices, but the timeline remains uncertain. The unlocked Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 might also see similar updates soon.
Although, given the timing and the progression of software updates, there is a growing concern among users about Samsung’s delayed rollout strategy. Reflecting on the broader timeline, Android 15 entered beta testing in April 2024, and Samsung’s sluggish rollout of One UI 7 raises questions.
The current plan indicates that updates are set to expand to older models like the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy S23 series by the end of April. However, Samsung’s plans have demonstrated frequent changes recently, so users are encouraged to remain cautious with their expectations regarding the update timeline.
As Samsung moves forward, ownership of certain models may complicate user experiences, further highlighting the importance of timely and consistent software support.
