Renowned gaming laptop brand faces challenges as its retail store closes down.

Posted on 4 April 2025

Razer holds a prominent position as one of the leading gaming laptop manufacturers globally. However, this reputation did not prevent the recent closure of one of its brick-and-mortar stores. Situated in the Westfield San Francisco mall since 2016, the store served as a hub for gamers, providing a space for tournaments and opportunities to experience new Razer products before purchasing. Unfortunately, as of March 31, the store is now closed, with the entire mall expected to shut down by the end of April.

This location was Razer’s first standalone concept store in the U.S., spanning nearly 1,300 square feet across two levels. At its inception, the store featured over 20 gaming stations equipped with the latest hardware, including setups for both PC and console gaming, audio listening areas, and displays of Razer products. The closure comes as a result of a significant decline in foot traffic to the mall, influenced by the pandemic and the shift towards remote work. Reports indicate that the store attracted fewer than a dozen visitors daily, indicating a lack of viability.

While this store has closed, Razer still operates successfully in other locations, including London, Santa Clara, and Las Vegas. For those interested in supporting Razer, purchasing one of their latest gaming laptops might be an option. Recently, attention has been drawn to the upcoming Razer Blade RTX 50-series laptops, especially due to the anticipated introduction of the RTX 5060 GPU. However, recent leaks have raised concerns regarding the pricing, with reports indicating a Razer Blade 16 with an RTX 5060 priced at $1,999, significantly higher than other models.
