Apple’s AI Risks and Unfulfilled Promises Fuel Doubts Among iPhone Buyers

Posted on 14 March 2025

Apple’s recent foray into AI has raised doubts among iPhone buyers, largely due to the company’s failure to fulfill its earlier promises regarding AI enhancements. These features, initially highlighted as revolutionary advancements for Siri and the overall iPhone experience, have not delivered the anticipated impact. Many promised functionalities are now postponed until next year, leading to disappointment among consumers and tech enthusiasts alike. The root of the problem appears to stem from Apple’s announcement at the 2024 WWDC, where they detailed an ambitious plan for Siri to become more intuitive and better integrated with various applications.

However, persistent delays in the rollout of these features have left customers feeling let down. This sentiment has eroded trust in Apple’s capability to compete effectively in the rapidly evolving AI landscape dominated by competitors like Google and OpenAI. In light of these challenges, Apple has reportedly adjusted its sales forecasts for iPhones downward, indicating that they anticipated a lukewarm reception for the new AI features. This strategic shift suggests that the company is aware of the consumer backlash against the delayed offerings.

As the industry becomes more aggressive in AI innovation, the pressure on Apple mounts. If the company cannot deliver on its AI commitments, it risks falling behind competitors who are pushing the limits of technology. Personally, this series of setbacks has prompted me to reconsider my upgrade plans. As a tech reporter who primarily uses Android but also relies on iOS through an iPhone 16 Pro for industry insights, I find myself hesitant to invest further unless Apple significantly revamps its approach to delivering on AI promises.
