Unihertz has officially started taking pre-orders for the Titan 2, the successor to its BlackBerry Passport clone, the Titan. Enthusiasts can now secure their devices through a Kickstarter campaign, where the Titan 2 is being marketed as a modern twist on the classic QWERTY smartphone.
The original Titan, released in 2019, closely resembled the iconic 2014 BlackBerry Passport, gaining a cult following due to its unique features such as a 4.5-inch display with a sharp 1440 x 1440 resolution and a hybrid physical touchscreen QWERTY keyboard. While the Passport ran on BlackBerry 10, the Titan launched with Android 9 Pie and was later updated to Android 10.
Unihertz has released promotional materials highlighting the Titan 2’s distinct design. The new model has a rear sub-screen and comes pre-installed with Android 15.
Its backlit QWERTY keyboard allows for fast and intuitive typing, with customizable keys for quick app access. Notably, the Titan 2 supports 5G connectivity, a significant upgrade from the original model’s reliance on 4G LTE.
The Titan 2 is packed with features including NFC, Bluetooth, and Infrared capabilities. Dual SIM functionality permits users to manage both personal and work numbers effortlessly.
Security-wise, the device includes biometric unlocking options such as fingerprint and facial recognition. A powerful 50 MP rear camera, complete with a telephoto lens for 3.4x optical zoom, and a 32 MP front camera for selfies rounds out the photography features.
This model maintains the compact 4.5-inch LCD screen alongside a robust 5050 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support and offers a generous 512GB of storage. Unihertz’s Kickstarter campaign has seen remarkable success, surpassing its initial goal of $100,000 with nearly $838,000 raised from over 2,800 backers, all within the first few weeks.
The Titan 2 is currently available at a special price of $269, making it an enticing option for fans of the series. With a potential partnership with AT&T, the Titan 2 is definitely a device to watch in the coming months.
