Pebble’s Retro Reboot Launches in July, Bringing New Features Even for Older Watches

Posted on 13 June 2025

Pebble is set to make a comeback, with its new smartwatches scheduled to ship in July. The first model, the Core 2 Duo, is part of a reboot led by founder Eric Migicovsky. A limited beta test is currently underway, inviting 200 select customers to be the first to experience the new smartwatch.

Broader shipments for the Core 2 Duo are planned for July and August, along with another model known as the Core 2 Time, which remains on track for release. In tandem with the hardware, a new Pebble app will launch for both iOS and Android, primarily designed for the Core 2 watches. However, this app will also support older Pebble models such as the Pebble 2 and Pebble Time series.

Users of these legacy devices can participate in the beta program to test the app. This initiative highlights Pebble’s commitment to its original user base and acknowledges the community that has kept the brand alive during its absence. Beta sign-ups are currently open but are limited in spots.

Those who pre-ordered the Core 2 Duo will receive further information via email regarding shipping details and any applicable tariffs or duties based on their location. The revival of Pebble is remarkable, especially considering the brand’s lengthy hiatus from the smartwatch market. Pebble’s original models developed a loyal following due to their simplistic design, extended battery life, and effective notification support.

Numerous fans have maintained their devices even after official support ceased due to community-driven initiatives. While established competitors like Apple, Samsung, and Google dominate the current market, Pebble’s straightforward and user-centric approach may still resonate with many. The inclusion of support for older devices is particularly considerate for long-time users.

As the Core 2 lineup prepares for its launch, there is anticipation about whether it can capture the spirit of the original Pebble while incorporating modern updates.
