Verizon Expands 5G Network Enhancements for First Responders Across More Markets Nationwide

Posted on 13 June 2025

Verizon has announced an expansion of its 5G network dedicated to First Responders, enhancing its Verizon Frontline Network Slice across 50 major markets nationwide. This service aims to provide dedicated support to emergency personnel, ensuring they have the necessary bandwidth during critical situations.

With the integration of the C-band powered Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband service, which operates on mid-band spectrum, First Responders can benefit from improved reliability and performance in high-traffic scenarios. In contrast to AT&T’s FirstNet, which utilizes Band 14 and has been termed as public safety’s “VIP lane,” Verizon’s approach emphasizes the optimization of network slices tailored specifically for First Responders.

This strategy enables the prioritization of critical communications, such as transmitting live body camera feeds and drone footage, during emergencies. The low latency and customizable features of each network slice enhance decision-making capabilities for First Responders by providing them with real-time data.

Kyle Malady, the CEO of Verizon Business, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating that Verizon Frontline is the preferred network for over 40,000 public safety agencies across the United States. The new offerings emphasize Verizon’s commitment to evolving public safety communications and addressing the specialized needs of emergency personnel.

The expanded markets now incorporating Verizon Frontline Network Slice services include major cities like Charlotte, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Atlanta, among others. This geographic growth reflects Verizon’s ambition to ensure First Responders have unfettered access to robust communication networks during emergencies, ultimately enhancing public safety and response efficiency.
