New Leak Suggests Dimensity 9500 Rivals Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in Performance Metrics

Posted on 13 June 2025

Qualcomm and MediaTek are in fierce competition to develop flagship chipsets. Both companies aim to create powerful yet efficient smartphone processors to capture more market share from each other.

The next major milestone in this rivalry is the anticipated release of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is set to debut in the coming months. In an interesting twist, MediaTek is rumored to unveil its own high-end chip, the Dimensity 9500, even sooner.

The timing of these releases will not significantly impact smartphone manufacturers, who typically plan their devices well in advance of such announcements. However, it is essential for consumers, as the performance metrics of these chipsets can play a crucial role in their purchasing decisions.

Initial benchmarks indicate that MediaTek has successfully enhanced its flagship chipset, matching Qualcomm’s performance. The Dimensity 9500 and Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 exhibit nearly identical scores, suggesting that consumer preference may ultimately come down to personal taste rather than a significant performance gap.

For context, the benchmark scores are as follows:
– **Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2**
– Single core performance: 4,000+ (up from 3,100+)
– Multi core performance: 11,000+ (up from 9,800+)

– **MediaTek Dimensity 9500**
– Single core performance: 3,900+ (up from 2,900+)
– Multi core performance: 11,000+ (up from 9,200+)

Both chipsets will utilize TSMC’s advanced third-generation 3nm fabrication process. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 is designed with a new architecture that incorporates Arm Cortex-X9 and Cortex-A7 cores, providing a notable boost in power compared to the older Cortex-X4 cores used in the Dimensity 9400.

The first devices expected to feature the Dimensity 9500 include the Oppo Find X9 and Vivo X300. While MediaTek has yet to announce a specific date for its launch, Qualcomm plans to officially showcase the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 on or around September 23.
