Galaxy Z Flip 7 Poised to Enter the Elite Wireless Charging Market, Reports Reuters AP Newsletters

Posted on 5 June 2025

Recent news reveals that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 will include Qi2 Ready wireless charging for the first time in its foldable lineup. However, it’s not just the Fold; the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also expected to support this technology.

While Samsung has not yet fully integrated Qi2—primarily due to its requirement for magnets to align chargers and accessories very much like Apple’s MagSafe—the company is preparing to implement a newer version called Qi 2.1. Qi 2.1 permits “approved” cases to contain magnets without the need for them to be embedded in the device itself.

The Galaxy S25 series was the first to adopt this innovation, setting the stage for the Fold 7 and Flip 7 to follow suit. This information comes from a listing by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which initially provided details on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The Flip is identified by its unusual model number SM-A846U, a designation likely employed to obscure its identity, similar to what was done for the Fold. For reference, the Z Flip 5 was previously listed as SM-A822D.

Anticipated for an official reveal in early July, both devices have had much of their key features leaked, presenting a clearer picture of what to expect. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to retain the same design as its predecessor, except for a slightly larger cover display.

However, some regions may receive an Exynos chip, which is expected to be less powerful compared to the Snapdragon variant reserved for U.S. customers. On a related note, discussions are encouraged in public forums, provided participants adhere to relevant guidelines.
