Samsung Introduces One UI 8 Beta Ahead of Schedule to Address One UI 7’s Previous Issues

Posted on 28 May 2025

Samsung has recently accelerated its efforts regarding the Android 16-based One UI 8 beta update, launching it specifically for Galaxy S25 models in South Korea. This move aligns with previous reports indicating an imminent beta rollout for these devices. The One UI 8.0 Beta Program is currently open for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, with expectations of a broader release in other countries soon. The beta update has a firmware version of S9x8NKSU3ZYER, with a file size of approximately 3.3GB for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which may vary slightly for other models in the flagship series.

Along with new features, Galaxy S25 users will also receive the May 2025 security patch as part of this update. The beta program is anticipated to expand to regions including Germany, the UK, and the US shortly. While One UI 8 does not bring significant visual changes, as was the case with One UI 7, it focuses more on refining existing features and enhancing overall performance. Those interested in participating in the beta program must download the Samsung Members app, log in with their Samsung Account, and select the One UI 8.0 Beta Program banner on the home page.

Once registered, users can download the update through the regular Settings menu. It’s important to note that since this is a beta version, it may contain bugs or other issues. Users should only proceed with the installation if they are comfortable with potential glitches. After experiencing delays with One UI 7, Samsung seems determined to avoid past mistakes by rolling out this beta sooner than expected.
