One UI 8 Might Launch Sooner Than Expected, Leaving “Early” Release Behind

Posted on 9 May 2025

SamMobile reports, based on unnamed sources, that the One UI 8 beta program might commence in the third week of May. However, this beta release might not be as broadly available as previous Samsung beta versions, as it may be limited to specific devices and select markets. A wider rollout is anticipated for June, providing more users with access to the new features.

The first One UI 8 beta build has reportedly already surfaced, indicating Samsung’s commitment to delivering this next version of its software in a timely manner. Expected to be based on Android 16, One UI 8 is likely to be publicly available in the latter half of the year. There are whispers that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 foldables could launch with this new interface, or at least shortly thereafter.

One UI 8 appears to focus more on refinement than introducing a plethora of new features. Unlike its predecessor, One UI 7, the upcoming version may bring fewer groundbreaking changes. However, the integration of Android 16 aims to keep Samsung enthusiasts engaged, particularly after the delays seen with the last update.

Recent leaks suggest enhancements to the Now Bar feature in One UI 8, which will allow users to access even more information at a glance. This feature, introduced with One UI 7, functions similarly to a Dynamic Island, enabling quick control over apps and instant access to information from the lock screen.
