Google Search Introduces New Feature Simplifying Complex Concepts for Easier Understanding.

Posted on 9 May 2025

Google Search has introduced a new AI feature called Simplify, designed to make complex concepts more accessible. This tool offers users the ability to break down difficult information into easier-to-understand language.

Unlike other AI features that may produce misleading or incorrect information, Simplify aims to provide accurate explanations without the risk of disseminating false statements. Using Simplify is straightforward.

If you’re using the iOS version of the Google app, simply highlight the text that you find challenging on a website. After highlighting, locate the Simplify icon, which features two arrows encircling a capital “A” and the Gemini logo.

Typically found at the bottom of the screen, tapping this icon will simplify the highlighted text, transforming it into clearer explanations. This feature can be particularly beneficial for those who struggle to grasp certain concepts, making learning more accessible.

One key distinction between Simplify and another feature called Summarize is notable. While Summarize presents the main points of a text, it may not retain all details.

In contrast, Simplify aims to make complex information more digestible while preserving essential details. Research conducted by Google has shown users find Simplify significantly more helpful than the original text, often leading to better retention of information.

To illustrate its effectiveness, consider a notoriously complicated rule in soccer—the offsides rule. By using Simplify, users can gain a clearer understanding of this and other intricate topics, such as baseball’s infield fly rule.

Simplify promises to enhance the user experience by making challenging concepts approachable and easier to grasp, showcasing AI as a beneficial tool.
