Huawei continues to thrive, particularly in the Chinese market, with the launch of its latest budget smartphone, the Huawei Enjoy 80. Priced at CNY 1,199 (approximately $165), this device boasts several intriguing features that make it stand out within its price range. One of the standout aspects of the Enjoy 80 is its substantial 6,620 mAh battery, utilizing silicon-carbon technology. By integrating silicon into the carbon anode of a conventional lithium-ion battery, manufacturers are able to enhance capacity significantly.
Alongside this, the phone features a 90Hz refresh rate display, though it is built on older LCD technology rather than OLED, which might disappoint some users. The screen’s resolution is HD+ (720 x 1604 pixels, 264 PPI) and offers a peak brightness of 1000 nits, which is considered relatively modest by 2025 standards. Also worth noting is the device’s IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, 4G connectivity, and the inclusion of a Kirin 710A processor—a chip that has been around since 2018, manufactured using a 14nm process. Equipped with 8GB of RAM, the Enjoy 80 offers several storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB.
In terms of photography, it features a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, although it lacks an ultrawide lens, instead opting for a depth sensor. The phone runs on HarmonyOS 4.0 and comes in four colors: Sky Blue, Sky White, Golden Black, and Field Green, with availability in China starting on April 26. While the excitement surrounding its launch is palpable, details about a potential global release remain sparse.
