Alleged Assembly Line Image Reveals Design Choices for the Upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max

Posted on 14 March 2025

Recent leaked images from an assembly line have surfaced, purporting to show the design of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max. The design is rumored to be inspired by Google’s Pixel, featuring some notable changes in aesthetics while adhering closely to the existing camera layout. Both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to house their cameras in a tray alongside the flash, microphone, and a LiDAR sensor positioned to the right.

Leaker Majin Bu, who has previously provided reliable information, shared an image of a metallic component believed to be part of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This part displays cavities that are likely designed for various components, including camera openings and a MagSafe charging coil. Reports from MacRumors suggest that the parts captured in the leaked image are potentially CNC-machined aluminum or titanium chassis elements, indicating they are ready for further processing stages.

Conversely, AppleInsider offers a different perspective, suggesting that these parts might be intended for case manufacturing rather than the actual phone itself. While the circular openings in the image correspond with rumored design features of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, two factors suggest these could merely be molds for cases. Firstly, Apple did not utilize full-body frames for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, opting instead for partial plates.

Secondly, the protruding elements surrounding the cutouts may not align with the final design specifications, further raising the possibility that these images represent case molds rather than actual phone components. Regardless of their true purpose, these images serve as an insightful glimpse into the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s anticipated back design, hinting at changes that may differentiate it from its predecessor.
