Changes are on the horizon for the Pixel Weather app, and whether you like it or not, you’ll need to adapt. Many users fondly remember when the app was only accessible through the Google app, requiring them to search for “Weather.”
After picking their preferred unit of measurement, fans of the app would add the weather icon featuring “Froggy,” a mascot that donned outfits based on current weather conditions, to their home screens. With the introduction of the Pixel 9 series, Google released a dedicated Pixel Weather app available on the Play Store.
This new app brought a host of updates, including a six-hour precipitation map and enhanced customization options. However, there remained a tedious step for users wanting to check the weather in a different location; they had to manually add that place to their Saved Locations list.
Recent updates indicate a shift in how users may interact with the app in the future. A “Save” button has been identified in the latest version of the app, but for now, it only allows users to quickly add their current location to the Saved Locations list.
This means to check the weather elsewhere, users still need to go through multiple steps: tapping the city name in the upper left corner, selecting their current location, and adding any new city they wish to track. Additionally, a notable improvement will clarify the ten-day forecast by incorporating the specific date alongside the day of the week.
This change seeks to eliminate any confusion, particularly for users looking at repeated day listings. Ultimately, these updates aim to enhance user experience and functionality within the Pixel Weather app.
