Changes to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island feature could be on the horizon for this year and next, potentially unlocking its full capabilities. Reputable leaker Digital Chat Station revealed on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that the upcoming iPhone 17 series will feature super-thin bezels, not just on Pro models but also on non-Pro variants. This could mean that the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will all showcase these sleek designs.
In addition to the design changes, DCS mentioned that the iPhone 17 models are expected to include a new user interface for the Dynamic Island feature. Since its debut with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, the Dynamic Island has drawn significant attention, and its expansion to the iPhone 15 and 16 lines suggests that Apple is investing heavily in this feature. Earlier this month, discussions around modifications to the Dynamic Island’s interface hinted at upcoming changes, although specifics remain elusive.
Additionally, Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, previously reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max might feature an under-display Face ID setup. However, this has been delayed until 2026 for the iPhone 18 Pro models, raising questions about Apple’s future design choices regarding the Dynamic Island. Considering the speculation surrounding the potential reduction in the Dynamic Island’s size, Apple faces a decision on when and if to make this change.
Some analysts anticipate that it may occur with the iPhone 17 series, while others suggest the iPhone 18 lineup might be the target for such adjustments. Overall, this year’s iPhone 17 models are expected to impress with record-thin bezels and a revamped Dynamic Island interface. The iPhone 17 series is projected to be unveiled around September 8th, 2025.
