Samsung’s Unpacked event is set for July 9, and with it comes anticipated announcements regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. As rumors circulate, it appears that the Fold 7 will see a significant price increase compared to its predecessor, while the Flip 7 may maintain its current pricing structure.
Foldable smartphones are known for their high costs, which often deter consumers from choosing them over traditional handsets. The previous Galaxy Fold received a price hike of $100, bringing its total to $1,899.99, and it seems the Fold 7 will be even pricier.
Leaker Yogesh Brar suggests that the Fold 7’s price in India could rise from INR 149,999 (approximately $1,748.87) to around INR 175,000 to INR 179,000 (about $2,087). In France, sources indicate price increases of €100 for the 256GB and 512GB models, with a €160 hike for the 1TB variant.
While some reports, like one from a Dutch website, claim the Fold 7 will mimic its predecessor’s pricing in Germany, most sources lean toward an increase. It is believed that the Fold 7 will bring substantial enhancements, including a lighter body, larger screens, and an upgrade to a 200MP main camera, potentially justifying the rise in price.
Conversely, the Flip 7 is expected to maintain its starting price of $1,099.99 in the U.S., despite also featuring upgrades like a thinner design and larger battery. Additionally, a more affordable Flip 7 FE is on the horizon with a price of €999 (around $1,172.12), offering a lower entry point for those interested in foldables.
As Samsung encourages pre-orders with various credits and trade-in deals, consumers face a decision: is the proposed price increase for the Fold 7 justified? The market will ultimately reflect the perceived value of these advancements.
