The Galaxy Fold 7 has arrived, marking a significant evolution in Samsung’s foldable lineup. This latest model boasts a super-thin design, lighter weight, and a more functional cover display, making it the most refined Galaxy Fold yet. Having spent some hands-on time with the device, I can confidently say that it addresses many of the shortcomings of its predecessors, and brings Samsung closer to its competitors in the foldable market.
One of the most impressive features of the Galaxy Fold 7 is its reduced thickness and weight. When closed, the device measures a mere 8.9mm thick, which is competitive with other models like the Oppo Find N5. When unfolded, it reaches an astonishing 4.2mm.
Additionally, at just 215 grams, the Fold 7 is the lightest book-style foldable available. Samsung has not only focused on making the device more portable but also claims that it is stronger, integrating an innovative Armor FlexHinge and Gorilla Glass for added durability. The cover screen has finally undergone a much-needed upgrade.
Featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio and a size of 6.5 inches, it feels much more like a traditional smartphone when closed. This enhancement improves usability for tasks such as typing and navigation. Upon unfolding, the Fold 7 reveals a vibrant 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, further enhanced by a new titanium lattice underneath.
The camera experience is taken to the next level with a flagship 200MP main sensor from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, resulting in significantly sharper and detailed images. Moreover, AI features are abundant, including ProVisual Engine and innovative editing tools like Erase Suggestions and Audio Eraser, which enhance the photography experience. Although the Fold 7 comes with a higher price tag starting at $2,000, the refined design and quality suggest it may be worth the investment.
Pre-orders are currently open, and units are expected to begin shipping soon. What are your thoughts on the advancements of the Galaxy Fold 7?
