In response to the catastrophic flooding in Texas, the three largest telecommunications companies in the United States—Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T—have mobilized efforts to aid the affected communities. Their initiative emphasizes the critical role of reliable communication in saving lives during such natural disasters. Verizon reports that despite the widespread devastation, its network is fully operational in the region.
The company is actively monitoring the situation and collaborating with public safety and emergency management teams to address communication needs. To further assist in rescue operations, Verizon has provided low-earth orbit satellite devices to the Texas Department of Public Safety, highlighting its commitment to prioritizing safety and effective communication. T-Mobile has dispatched its Community Support team to Kerrville, one of the hardest-hit areas.
Their efforts include offering free Wi-Fi, charging stations, and essential supplies at a designated reunification center. T-Mobile is also working closely with state and local agencies, including the Texas Division of Emergency Management, to ensure that critical connectivity and resources reach those in dire need. AT&T has implemented a 40-foot Mobile Connectivity Center, in partnership with the Information Technology Disaster Resource Center, to offer free internet access, computers, and charging facilities to those impacted by the floods.
This center is located at Schreiner University in Kerrville. Additionally, AT&T has supplied essential connectivity devices to emergency management teams and responded to various requests from public safety agencies via its FirstNet Response Operations Group. All three telecommunications providers have reiterated their commitment to supporting customers and emergency response teams, ensuring that communities remain connected during the ongoing recovery from the devastating flooding in Central Texas.
