Google’s Health Connect feature enables smartwatches to sync health data and store it on users’ smartphones. However, Garmin smartwatches, which enjoy popularity among fitness enthusiasts, do not currently support Health Connect. This limitation means that Garmin users cannot share their Garmin Connect data with Google’s service. Despite Google’s announcement several months ago at I/O 2025 that Health Connect support for Garmin devices was expected to roll out in June, it is now July, and the integration has yet to materialize.
While there is no confirmed timeline for the support’s arrival, Android Central has noted that Garmin recently updated its support page with information about what users can expect once integration is available. Good news for Garmin smartwatch owners is that most data can be synced with Google Health Connect. This includes various metrics such as activity data, calories burned, heart rate, steps, and even wellness data like body fat and sleep metrics. However, certain data types, such as running power, cadence, and sweat loss will not be compatible with the Google service.
Furthermore, Garmin’s Connect app mentions sharing sleep data but does not provide clarity on other metrics like blood oxygen saturation or heart rate variability. Ultimately, while Garmin users anticipate the upcoming Health Connect update, they may need to manage expectations regarding unsupported data types. It is hoped that the integration will take place soon, following the recent updates on Garmin’s support page.
