Are You Aware of the Rumored Significant Change to the M5 iPad Pro’s Rear Panel?

Posted on 27 June 2025

There are exciting updates expected for the upcoming M5 iPad Pro, particularly regarding its rear panel. Besides the anticipated upgrade to the powerful M5 processor, produced by TSMC using a 3nm process, there’s a notable design change to the tablet’s back.

According to reports, the iconic Apple logo will now be oriented in landscape mode instead of portrait. This shift will align the logo with how many users hold their devices, especially when using the iPad Pro for tasks like gaming or streaming.

Recent speculation suggests that the M5 iPad Pro could be unveiled in late 2024, possibly October or November, as Apple prepares for the holiday shopping season in 2025. Mass production of OLED panels for the device has recently begun, with Samsung and LG manufacturing the displays for both the 11-inch and 13-inch models.

The use of OLED technology, which Apple introduced in the 2024 models, enhances the viewing experience by providing better contrast and deeper blacks, while also contributing to thinner, more flexible screens. The transition to OLED not only improves the visual quality but also benefits battery life, particularly in dark mode, since black pixels can be turned off, conserving power.

Looking ahead, it is expected that Apple will expand the use of OLED displays to other models, including the iPad mini next year and the iPad Air by 2027. As the M5 iPad Pro approaches its release, tech enthusiasts are eager to see how these changes will impact the overall user experience, especially with the combination of enhanced performance and aesthetic updates.
