Google’s Latest App Could Help Prevent Your Next Unwise Purchase Decision

Posted on 27 June 2025

Google has introduced an innovative app designed to help users avoid making regrettable online purchases. This new app, known as Doppl, aims to eliminate the hassle of the “buy and return” cycle that many encounter when shopping online. The concept is straightforward: if you come across a stylish look on Instagram or in a thrift shop, simply take a picture and upload it to Doppl. The app then allows you to visualize how that outfit might appear on you.

One of the standout features of Doppl is its ability to transform static images of outfits into short videos, providing a dynamic and realistic representation of how clothing moves, which is an improvement over traditional virtual try-on methods. In addition to individual users, Doppl offers significant benefits for content creators. It allows them to showcase various outfits they have not even purchased, paving the way for an endless array of fashion videos on platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok. This feature encourages creativity without the associated costs of buying new clothing.

Currently, Doppl is still in its experimental phase within Google Labs, meaning it may not deliver perfect results. The app may face challenges with fit and texture accuracy, but its development process is focused on gathering user feedback for continuous improvement. At present, Doppl is available in the United States for both iOS and Android devices. While some fashion retail apps offer virtual try-ons, Doppl stands out due to its brand-agnostic approach and unique AI-driven video feature.

This could ultimately lead to reduced returns and waste, marking a promising step toward sustainability in fashion retail. All in all, Doppl represents a fascinating advancement in how we shop for clothing.
