Are you considering purchasing the Galaxy Z Flip 7? If so, how familiar are you with its rumored specifications?
One notable highlight is the possibility that it will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2500 application processor. Initially intended for the Galaxy S25 line in most regions, Samsung faced production challenges that led to the Snapdragon 8 Elite being used across the entire S25 lineup.
This situation reportedly resulted in a financial loss for Samsung amounting to $400 million. With Samsung’s latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the company appears to be leaning towards its Exynos chip, diverging from its previous models that generally utilized Snapdragon processors.
While the Galaxy Z Flip series has gained immense popularity over the past four years, Exynos chips have been criticized for overheating and offering lower performance than their Snapdragon counterparts. However, Samsung aims to reduce its dependency on Qualcomm and capitalize on cost savings by utilizing its in-house chipset.
Recent performance benchmarks indicate that the Exynos 2500 is competitive in some respects. It reportedly achieved a GPU OpenCL score of 18,601, aligning with scores from Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek 9400+.
However, its CPU performance revealed some weaknesses, with single-core and multi-core scores akin to the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Additionally, there will be a lower-cost Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE variant featuring the Exynos 2400 chip, which has a less impressive OpenCL score of 12,890.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and its FE version at the next Unpacked event on July 9. Pre-orders are anticipated to commence the same day, with shipping set to follow on July 25.
