Reasons Behind Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Units Failing to Unfold Completely

Posted on 27 July 2025

Recently, there has been troubling news regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 7, specifically concerning its display not unfolding properly during customer demonstrations in stores. However, there is a semi-official explanation that should reassure potential buyers of Samsung’s premier foldable device.

An insider with strong connections to the supply chain has indicated that the issues reported with the Fold 7 do not point to any fundamental defect. The term “official explanation” suggests that this information comes from an internal source, common in Chinese tech discussions.

The problem stems from the adhesive used on the main display. When these devices remain folded for extended periods, the adhesive can take time to adjust when unfolded, leading to temporary issues during the demonstration.

For many users, encountering this issue is not unusual, but it typically resolves itself after some general usage. Applying light pressure can help, although it’s advisable to wait for the adhesive to acclimate naturally.

Demo units may have been left folded for too long, contributing to the problem observed by consumers. If you experience similar behavior with your own Fold 7, don’t panic; it isn’t indicative of a defect.

In fact, many units are functioning well right from the box. As we look ahead, it will be interesting to see if Apple’s soon-to-be-released foldable iPhone faces similar challenges, especially since they are aiming for advanced display technologies that minimize crease visibility.

While the Fold 7 has impressed many, it does come with a few downsides, such as its 4,400 mAh battery and the absence of S Pen support. Still, it stands out as one of Samsung’s most innovative smartphones to date.
