The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to be undergoing a significant redesign, as unveiled by a leaked render shared by long-time leaker Ice Universe on the social media platform X. Although the authenticity of the design remains uncertain, Ice Universe has pieced together various details to suggest that the upcoming phone may closely resemble the leaked concept. The new design features a raised area intended to accommodate three of the four rear cameras, a notable shift from the camera-free back of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The motivation behind this design alteration isn’t solely for aesthetics. Reports indicate that the new main and 5x telephoto cameras will feature larger apertures, necessitating a larger lens structure to allow more light in. Keeping the existing camera arrangement would likely result in an unbalanced look, as the new lenses would protrude approximately 3mm from the back.
To address this, Samsung is likely to position the primary, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras within a raised island. This design change aligns the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s appearance more closely with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which still maintains a camera bump. Another leaker, known as @kro_roe, has supported this leak and mentioned that the new cameras will come with decorative rings around them.
In addition to the design update, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature improved battery life, enhanced charging capabilities, and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy chip. With solid sales of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and positive reception of the Fold 7, the Galaxy S26 Ultra aims to enhance Samsung’s market leadership and success.
