Google Search is adapting to your thinking, transforming how results are displayed.

Posted on 25 July 2025

Web Guide, currently being rolled out as part of Search Labs, aims to enhance your search experience by utilizing AI to better organize results. Instead of a simple list of blue links, Web Guide categorizes information based on different aspects of your query. For instance, if you search for “how to solo travel in Japan,” the tool will present tailored sections such as guides, personal stories, and safety tips.

This categorization helps you find the most relevant information more effectively. Web Guide is particularly adept at handling complex questions. For example, if you inquire, “My family is spread across multiple time zones.

What are the best tools for staying connected?” Web Guide will provide focused categories to address your specific concerns. Behind the functionality of Web Guide is Google’s custom AI model, Gemini.

This model enhances the search experience by comprehensively understanding queries and effectively scanning web content. It employs a technique known as query fan-out, which conducts multiple related searches simultaneously to identify the most relevant pages. If you are part of the Labs program, you can find Web Guide under the Web tab in Search, with the option to revert to standard results if needed.

Google plans to gradually extend Web Guide’s capabilities to other search areas, reflecting its commitment to making AI a crucial part of the search process. This innovation may provide a solution for those who feel their broader searches often miss the mark. In a separate note, a community discussion allows for diverse opinions, but it is essential to stay on-topic.

Off-topic remarks, hate speech, spam, multiple accounts, and impersonations are against guidelines. New accounts may face temporary posting restrictions to maintain safety and minimize spam. Moderation is conducted by humans to ensure fairness, and users can report any concerns regarding moderation.
