Google Lens has recently undergone a visual update, offering a cleaner interface for both iOS and Android users. This feature utilizes your camera to help identify objects and provide detailed information about them.
To access Google Lens, find the Google Search bar on your device. On the Google app for Android, the camera icon is located within the Search bar, while on iOS, it’s just below the Search bar.
Activating the camera allows you to focus on an object, after which you can hit the search or translate button for further insights. The latest changes reflect Google’s aim to streamline the user experience.
With the update, Google Lens now presents only two options upon launch: Search and Translate. The previous Homework button has been discarded, and Google encourages users to utilize its AI, Gemini, for academic assistance.
Gemini is designed to provide more comprehensive support, breaking down complex problems into manageable steps and offering detailed explanations alongside answers. This adjustment also enhances the overall appearance of Google Lens by reducing clutter and broadening the viewfinder.
For those using the search feature, the new AI Mode can be accessed via the Search button to yield more in-depth search results based on what your camera captures. This updated interface has started appearing on devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
However, some users may find discrepancies, as the redesign has not reached all models uniformly. Interestingly, while the update has surfaced on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it seems less consistent on certain Android devices.
Additionally, Apple offers a similar Visual Intelligence feature for its newer iPhone models, accessible through the Camera Control button, although it relies primarily on on-device processing, contrasting with Google Lens’s cloud-based approach.
