A recent real-world image of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has raised concerns among fans, particularly regarding its design. The tablet appears to feature a water drop notch which replaces the previous model’s dual-camera setup. This shift to a single front-facing camera may disappoint users who appreciated the versatility offered by two sensors.
The specifications for the Tab S11 Ultra suggest that it will be equipped with the Dimensity 9400+ chipset and will include 12 GB of RAM, along with Android 16 pre-installed. While the hardware upgrade is promising, the reduction in camera technology may leave some potential buyers questioning the design choices made by Samsung. From a personal perspective, the water drop notch feels awkward and detracts from the sleek, modern aesthetics of the device.
Although the previous notch design occupied more screen space, it was visually more appealing in my opinion. The current look of the water drop notch seems to clash with the overall design elegance that one would expect from a premium tablet like the Tab S11 Ultra. For me, this notch design is a dealbreaker.
I would prefer to stick with the Tab S10 Ultra or consider Apple’s iPad, which features a more sophisticated notch design. I can only hope that future devices, including the upcoming 20th anniversary iPhone Pro, move towards a flawless display devoid of cutouts. Unfortunately, it seems the industry as a whole may not shift away from notches and punch holes until a major player like Apple makes that change first.
