Verizon’s New Strategy Reflects Focus on a Distinct Segment of Customers

Posted on 27 June 2025

Verizon has recently introduced a new set of military benefits, indicating a focused approach towards supporting specific user needs. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance customer care through AI and make rewards more significant across its various offerings.

A notable feature of this new program is the introduction of a short-term service suspension option tailored for military personnel. For service members facing deployments of less than 90 days, Verizon now provides the Military Short Term Suspend option.

This allows them to temporarily pause their mobile service for a nominal charge of $10 per month, or the cost of their regular monthly service, whichever is lower. This flexibility acknowledges the unique situations that military personnel encounter, whether they are in training or on short domestic assignments.

Sowmyanarayan Sampath, the CEO of Verizon Consumer, emphasized the company’s commitment to reliability and support tailored to individual needs. Moreover, Verizon offers a Fios Home Internet plan starting at $45 per month, with an additional $15 discount for military members who bundle it with mobile services, bringing the price down to $30 per month.

This package also includes a three-year price lock guarantee, a significant benefit for those seeking predictable billing. While Verizon’s military offerings are competitive, they differ in some aspects from T-Mobile’s.

For instance, T-Mobile promises a five-year price lock guarantee and includes streaming service subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu in its plans, whereas Verizon charges extra for these add-ons. Ultimately, when choosing a carrier, it’s crucial to consider not just discounts or perks but also the quality of coverage and customer support that best meets individual needs.
