Two New Enhancements Introduced for the Popular Circle to Search Feature

Posted on 13 June 2025

Google has enhanced its popular Circle to Search feature by introducing two new capabilities that are sure to benefit users. This convenient tool has gained notable popularity among Android phone users, largely due to its straightforward functionality that allows users to simply draw a circle around an item on their screen to initiate a search. With the most recent update to the Google app (version 16.22.44.sa.arm64 beta), it has been discovered that Google is adding functionalities related to song recognition and translation. To utilize Circle to Search, Android users need to employ gesture navigation.

By long-pressing the home gesture bar—a small line located at the bottom of the display—users can draw a circle around the desired item. When looking to identify a song playing in the background, users will now see a Google search bar, along with a musical note icon and another circle featuring the Google Translate icon. By tapping the musical note, users can access their recent song searches by clicking on a clock icon in the upper right corner, which reveals a “Recent Song Searches” page. This page displays the last few songs listened to, including album artwork, the name of the performing artist, listening duration, and an option to view full history.

Additionally, the new translation feature allows users to translate an entire webpage at once. After tapping the Google Translate icon, a second tap will translate the full page, significantly streamlining the translation process. Although this feature will not work if a circle has already been drawn on the screen, it remains a valuable tool for translating foreign sources. Overall, these enhancements to Circle to Search promise to increase its utility and appeal among users.
