Samsung has launched another mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy M36, in India, following the successful Galaxy M35 from last year. The M35 was marketed as a “Monster” phone, largely due to its impressive 6,000 mAh battery.
However, as battery sizes have become more commonplace among competitors, the term “monster” may no longer hold the same weight. Interestingly, the Galaxy M36 offers a smaller battery compared to its predecessor, raising questions about Samsung’s decision to scale back on one of the device’s major selling points.
On a positive note, the M36 is now 15 percent slimmer, measuring 7.7mm compared to the M35’s 9.1mm. This change may appeal to users seeking a sleeker device.
In terms of display, the M36 features a 6.7-inch screen, slightly larger than the M35’s 6.6-inch display. However, the design shift from a punch hole to a waterdrop notch is a notable and somewhat controversial choice, sparking mixed opinions among users.
Additionally, while the camera island has undergone some design alterations, there are few significant differences between the two devices; both share similar chipsets, camera systems, memory configurations, and display types. Samsung has announced the Galaxy M36 will be available in Velvet Black, Serene Green, and Orange Haze, with sales starting on July 12 via Samsung’s website and Amazon.
The entry-level model, featuring 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, is priced at Rs 22,999 ($270 / €230), though a limited-time offer reduces this to Rs 16,499 ($195 / €165). Given the competitive mid-range market and the M36’s similarities to the M35—particularly its larger battery and lower price—consumers may find the previous model to be the more appealing choice.
