Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra: Misguided Priorities and Missteps in Focus Areas

Posted on 12 June 2025

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is generating disappointment, particularly regarding its battery size and charging speed. While the device remains officially unannounced, speculation based on insider information suggests it may not meet expectations.

One of the main concerns is that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might maintain the same 5,000mAh battery capacity that was seen in the previous S series models. This lack of innovation over several generations raises questions about Samsung’s commitment to enhancing its flagship offerings.

If the battery remains unchanged, Samsung risks falling behind competitors such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, and others, who are making significant advancements in battery technology. For instance, devices like the OnePlus 13T can offer much larger batteries in a sleeker form factor, making it difficult to understand why Samsung would settle for less.

Consumers are also anxious about potential changes beyond battery capacity. Rumors suggest the removal of the S Pen slot, which has been a hallmark feature of the Ultra models.

Losing this feature in exchange for minor improvements could be a poor decision, especially when considering the overall user experience. However, there are some silver linings to consider.

There are indications that the S26 Ultra might utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor exclusively, potentially giving it an edge in performance against competitors. Additionally, Samsung’s decision to avoid under-display camera technology could free up resources to focus on enhancing other features.

In summary, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra shows promise in some areas, its shortcomings in battery technology and potential feature removals could lead to disappointment for fans eagerly anticipating its release. Samsung will need to address these concerns to maintain its status as a leader in the smartphone market.
