Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Faces Stiff Competition with its Rival Launching Later This Month

Posted on 13 June 2025

One of the most anticipated devices set to launch in the latter half of this year is Vivo’s X Fold 5. This flagship foldable smartphone will be introduced in China on June 25, and it promises a range of innovative features that stand out in the crowded foldable market. A key aspect that makes the Vivo X Fold 5 particularly interesting is its integration with the Apple ecosystem, which distinguishes it from competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. Following Apple’s WWDC announcement, Vivo confirmed that the X Fold 5 will support Apple Watch functionality.

Users will be able to sync health data from the watch and receive call and text notifications directly on their smartwatch. In addition to Apple Watch support, the X Fold 5 is set to include features such as direct iCloud integration and the ability to act as an extended monitor for Mac users. This seamless connection with Apple’s ecosystem is a major selling point for the device. Moreover, Vivo has announced that the X Fold 5 will be equipped with impressive water and dust resistance ratings, achieving IPX8, IPX9, and IPX5 certifications.

This rating ensures the phone will function even in extreme conditions, including temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). A noteworthy feature of the device is its massive 6,000 mAh battery, which is the largest in the foldable category. This battery utilizes advanced silicon-carbon anode technology, allowing it to operate in temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius (-22 degrees Fahrenheit). Aside from its robust build and impressive battery life, the X Fold 5 boasts state-of-the-art imaging capabilities.

It comes with an improved telephoto camera compared to its predecessor, the X Fold 3 Pro, which is known for its outstanding camera performance among foldables. Additionally, both displays will feature a peak brightness of 4,500 nits with advanced LTPO backplane technology for enhanced refresh rate control. In summary, the Vivo X Fold 5 appears to be a groundbreaking device, showcasing many features that set it apart from its competitors. However, time will tell how these features perform in real-world scenarios and whether the integration with the Apple ecosystem provides real value for users of an Android device.
