Samsung Galaxy Users Urged to Enable Crucial Security Features Before It’s Too Late

Posted on 30 June 2025

With phone theft on the rise worldwide, Samsung is urging Galaxy users to activate the newest anti-theft features now available. These updates, part of One UI 7, aim to enhance personal data protection in case of robbery or loss. Samsung initially introduced these security updates with the Galaxy S25 series, and they are now being rolled out to various older models, including the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold and Z Flip devices, as well as the Galaxy S23 and S22. More Galaxy phones are expected to receive these features over time.

A notable element of the update is the Theft Detection Lock, which employs motion detection to swiftly lock the screen if a phone is stolen. Additionally, the Offline Device Lock activates when a device remains offline for a specified period, helping prevent unauthorized access even if the connection is disabled. Samsung has also improved its Remote Lock feature, allowing users to lock their stolen phones by verifying their phone number, followed by options to recover their accounts and enhance security. The latest update includes new safeguards aimed at mitigating robbery situations.

The Identity Check feature adds a layer of security by requiring biometric verification before enabling any changes, even if the thief knows the PIN. The Security Delay feature introduces a one-hour waiting period for any changes to biometric data, providing users with extra time to react if their phone is stolen. Samsung offers additional tips for users in the event of a lost or stolen phone. Utilizing Samsung Find enables remote locking or erasing of the device.

Users can also display a message or contact number on the lock screen, although it’s advisable to refrain from sharing personal information. If the phone is online, users can track its location, ring it, or activate power-saving mode to prolong its battery life. While these tools cannot completely eliminate theft, they empower users to protect their data and maintain control over their accounts during challenging situations.
