Samsung is reportedly looking to collaborate with the AI startup Perplexity, with plans to introduce the company’s services on future Galaxy devices, potentially starting with the Galaxy S26 series. A Bloomberg report indicates that this partnership would involve preinstalling the Perplexity app and assistant across Galaxy phones. Additionally, Perplexity’s AI-powered search technology could be integrated into Samsung’s Internet Browser, and perhaps even within Bixby, Samsung’s voice assistant. Perplexity is an emerging player in the AI search and assistant landscape, directly competing with giants such as Google Search and Microsoft Copilot.
The platform is already available on Android and iOS and offers advanced capabilities beyond basic Q&A. For instance, it provides detailed research queries, allows for follow-up questions, and displays sources inline, a feature that enhances transparency and sets it apart from traditional search engines. Should the deal be finalized, Samsung may ship Galaxy phones with Perplexity’s app preloaded, while also embedding some of its technology into Bixby. According to Bloomberg, Samsung aims to position Perplexity as the “default assistant option” on the Galaxy S26 series.
The exact relationship between Perplexity, Bixby, and Google Assistant remains unclear, though it appears that Samsung is exploring alternatives to conventional Google partnerships. Interestingly, Motorola has already pioneered the integration of Perplexity with its 2025 Razr series, which offers multiple AI assistants. This proliferation of options could confuse users, highlighting the need for clarity on how Samsung might integrate Perplexity into its software ecosystem. As developments unfold, Samsung’s potential partnership with Perplexity may signal significant changes in the use of AI on Galaxy devices.
An official announcement is expected later this year, which will shed light on these plans.
