Samsung is expanding the availability of a key health feature on its Galaxy Watch series. Many modern smartwatches include an extensive range of health and fitness capabilities, which consumers now consider essential.
The ability to monitor parameters like blood pressure, heart rate, and sleep quality through a smartwatch was unimaginable just a few years ago. One notable feature, Sleep Apnea, previously available only in 34 countries, is now being rolled out to more regions.
This feature, accessible through the Samsung Health Monitor app, garnered attention for its potential to assist users in tracking their sleep patterns. Recently, Samsung announced that the Sleep Apnea feature has received approval from the European Conformity organization, paving the way for its launch in 34 additional European markets.
Approval from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration and Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority has also enabled the feature to reach these countries. To utilize the Sleep Apnea feature, users need a Galaxy Watch 4 or later model running Wear OS 5.0 or higher and must pair it with a Galaxy smartphone operating on Android 12.0 or later.
With this expansion, the feature is now accessible in a total of 70 markets worldwide, including countries like Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, and the United States. Although this feature can provide valuable insights, Samsung cautions that it is intended for on-demand use and should not replace a professional diagnosis or treatment for those already diagnosed with sleep apnea.
Users are advised to seek medical advice from qualified healthcare providers for accurate assessments and care.
