Samsung Executive Responds to Galaxy S25 Edge Criticism: “Just Hold It” – Reuters AP Newsletters

Posted on 6 June 2025

In a recent interview, Blake Gaiser, the director of smartphone product management at Samsung Electronics America, defended the Galaxy S25 Edge, suggesting that potential buyers should not focus solely on its specifications. Gaiser claims that rather than trying to impress consumers with features and hardware, the S25 Edge is meant to be experienced firsthand. He encourages critics to hold the phone and form their opinions afterward. One significant issue for many smartphone users is battery life, which has often been a concern for technology enthusiasts.

While some may be disappointed with the smaller battery typical of slim devices, Gaiser argues that most consumers are looking for an all-day battery rather than a high-capacity option. He believes that the S25 Edge’s slim design is its main selling point, enhancing its appeal as a lightweight and convenient alternative to bulkier models, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Gaiser suggests that the S25 Edge is designed for users who desire a powerful device without excessive features that they may not need. He notably defends the absence of a telephoto zoom, stating that many users may not comprehend the quality of their photos and can still capture excellent images without such functionality.

As the smartphone market evolves, Apple is also moving into the realm of sleek designs with their upcoming iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to replace the iPhone Plus model. This reveals a growing trend towards slimmer devices that prioritize aesthetics over certain features. The real question remains whether consumers will embrace this new direction in smartphone design, as companies continue to refine their approaches to meet user desires. Ultimately, Gaiser believes the S25 Edge offers an impressive experience in a streamlined package.
