The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is set to face strong competition with the upcoming launch of the Vivo X Fold 5 and the Honor Magic V5. Both of these innovative foldables are scheduled to make their debut in June, ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s anticipated release in July.
Vivo has already begun generating excitement for its flagship device by sharing images and details about the X Fold 5. In a recent official image released by Vivo, the internal display of the X Fold 5 was showcased.
Notably, this device will feature LTPO 8T panels, which are expected to offer smoother visuals during various activities like browsing and gaming, thanks to their adaptive refresh rate. Another remarkable specification is the impressive brightness capability of both displays, supporting up to 4,500 nits.
This is a significant improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which peaks at 2,600 nits. The X Fold 5 also incorporates high-frequency PWM dimming, helping to minimize eye strain.
Additionally, Vivo has utilized Zeiss Master Color technology to enhance color reproduction on the X Fold 5. While only a few details have surfaced, the image unveiled indicates a new physical button on the left side of the device.
This button may replace the previous alert slider, but its function remains uncertain, sparking speculation that it could be either a dedicated AI button or customizable. Furthermore, Vivo has confirmed that the X Fold 5 will be the first foldable smartphone with IPX8/IPX9 ratings, making it resistant to immersion in up to three meters of water.
Remarkably, Vivo claims that the device can endure opening and closing 1,000 times while submerged to a depth of one meter, although this feature may cater to a very niche segment of users.
