Three years ago, Nothing launched its first smartphone, the Phone (1), which initially came pre-installed with Android 12. The company committed to providing owners with three major OS upgrades, resulting in Android 15 being the final version available for this model. Despite the trend of tech companies offering extended OS support, the Phone (1) has reached its limit for upgrades.
However, for users still holding onto their Nothing Phone (1), the brand has rolled out a feature-rich update to enhance the device’s capabilities. Nothing OS v3.2 is now being released, delivering important new features and improvements that users have been eager to see since they were first introduced on newer Nothing devices. Some exciting new features include a Privacy Space, accessed easily by swiping right in the app drawer, and the ability to set separate privacy passwords for both the App Locker and Privacy Space.
There’s also a Hotspot Manager for better management of devices connected to your hotspot. In terms of general improvements, the update addresses a glitch with the light strip display during music playback and allows users to disable lock screen vibrations for face unlock via the settings. Additionally, it includes the latest Android security patch and resolves accessibility issues in apps like Launcher and Gallery.
Users may experience temporary overheating and increased energy consumption during the upgrade process, but these issues should resolve once the update is complete. The rollout will occur in phases, meaning not every user will receive the update at the same time. It remains uncertain whether further feature-rich updates will be available for the Phone (1), suggesting that an upgrade to a newer model might be on the horizon for some.
The update process and community guidelines emphasize staying on topic and conducting discussions respectfully. Moderation aims to maintain a safe environment while being as objective as possible, with systems in place to manage new accounts.
