Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, is anticipated to debut in a few months, but early benchmark scores have already surfaced. These scores indicate that the new chipset will bring significant enhancements across various performance metrics.
Reputable leaker Digital Chat Station has reported that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will provide a marked performance increase compared to its predecessor. Significant upgrades are expected in both CPU and GPU performance.
The introduction of Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU architecture promises nearly a 30 percent boost in performance. Additionally, advancements in multi-core and GPU (graphics processing units) capabilities are expected to be quite extensive.
Specifically, the single-core performance score is projected to exceed 4,000, a noticeable rise from the previous score of 3,100. Similarly, the multi-core performance score is expected to reach over 11,000, improving from 9,800.
The Adreno 840 GPU is also expected to shine in benchmarking tests, with a reported clock speed of 1.35 GHz, an increase from the Adreno 830’s 1.1 GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is rumoured to implement a 2+6 architecture, with the highest CPU core clocking in at up to 4.8 GHz, while other cores operate at a base frequency of 4.4 GHz.
This chipset will be fabricated using TSMC’s cutting-edge third-generation 3nm process technology. While Qualcomm has yet to confirm a release date for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the 2025 Snapdragon Summit is set to begin on September 23, leading to speculation that the chipset may be unveiled during this time.
Concurrently, MediaTek is expected to launch its Dimensity 9500 chipset shortly before Qualcomm’s announcement. As we await these developments, it is clear the latter half of the year will showcase multiple flagship devices powered by both companies’ latest technologies.
Notably, the Xiaomi 16 is likely to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, while devices like the Oppo Find X9 and Vivo X300 are expected to adopt MediaTek’s new flagship chip.
