macOS Tahoe Developer Beta 2: Resolving Finder Issues and Introducing Exciting New Features

Posted on 25 June 2025

macOS Tahoe, the upcoming operating system for MacBooks and Macs, has now entered its second developer beta phase. This version includes several minor updates and changes that enhance user experience. Notably, the second developer beta reverts the Finder app icon to its original color scheme. In the first beta, the colors were inverted, which many users found unappealing.

In response to feedback, Apple restored the icon to its familiar design. In addition to the Finder icon, the Migration Assistant app icon has received a subtle redesign, giving it a fresh look in macOS 26 Tahoe. Furthermore, there’s a new “Show menu bar background” option in System Settings. For those who prefer the classic appearance of the menu bar over the Liquid Glass effect, this feature allows users to return to the frosted background.

Another notable addition in developer beta 2 is the ability to enroll in beta testing for AirPods firmware directly from your Mac. Users can connect their AirPods, access the Bluetooth menu in System Settings, and toggle the “AirPods Beta Updates” option. The new beta version also introduces several smaller tweaks. Among these is the new Recovery Assistant feature, which was previously reported for iOS 26 and is now available for Mac users.

There are also rumors suggesting that Apple Intelligence can be used during the boot process for external drives, although this feature has not yet been confirmed. macOS 26 Tahoe is currently available for developers. The first public beta is expected to roll out in July, with the official release anticipated this fall. In the broader context, community discussions around these updates encourage users to share constructive feedback while adhering to guidelines that maintain respect and relevance in conversations.
