Samsung is set to unveil two new flagship foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, in July. While the company has begun teasing one of these devices, it has not yet confirmed the date for its next Unpacked event. However, reputable leaker Evan Blass has indicated that the event will take place on July 9 at 10 AM EDT, likely in New York City, although this information remains unofficial until Samsung provides confirmation.
In addition to the new foldables, Samsung is expected to announce an updated lineup of smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Furthermore, the company plans to introduce two new flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, this coming fall. Despite the anticipation surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, it’s worth noting that they may not represent significant advancements in Samsung’s foldable technology.
Instead, they are expected to be iterative models designed to refine the existing foldable format. One concern among fans is the battery life, as the batteries in Samsung’s foldable devices are reported to be smaller than those of competitors. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 4,400 mAh battery, with the upcoming Z Fold 7 expected to have a similar capacity.
Conversely, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is anticipated to see an increase in battery size to 4,300 mAh, compared to the 4,000 mAh in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Competitors like Honor and Oppo offer larger batteries, including the 5,150 mAh in the Honor Magic V3 and the 5,600 mAh in the Oppo Find N5, indicating that there is room for improvement in battery capacity for Samsung’s devices. Following the Unpacked event, pre-orders for the new foldables are expected to commence, but they may not be available in stores until the following month.
Major U.S. carriers are likely to carry the new models, and Samsung is expected to provide attractive discounts and trade-in offers.
