The recent iOS 18.5 update from Apple has led to significant problems with the native Mail app for many users. Reports have surfaced detailing instances of the app freezing, forcing users to restart their devices frequently. This issue first gained traction on June 4th, shortly after the update was released on May 13th, which included security patches to resolve earlier bugs. Among those affected, user CPFC89 shared their frustrations, stating that both he and his wife experienced repeated freezing on their iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro.
The feedback on Apple’s community support site indicates that this problem is not limited to a specific model, as users across various iPhones have reported similar challenges. Many have noted that the Mail app fails to load, displaying only a blank screen. In light of these difficulties, several workarounds have been suggested by both users and Apple Support. A common and temporary solution is to shut down and restart the iPhone.
Other users have found success by performing a forced restart, which involves quickly pressing the volume up button, the volume down button, and then holding the power button until the Apple logo appears. Additionally, resetting network settings may help alleviate the issue. To do this, open the Settings app, navigate to General, select Transfer or Reset, and then choose Reset Network Settings. If these options do not rectify the problem, some users have resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the Mail app.
With these potential fixes, users are hopeful that Apple will soon release iOS 18.5.1 to address the ongoing issues affecting the Mail app and improve overall device performance.
