Google Gemini’s Latest Feature Makes Traditional Reminder Apps Seem Obsolete, Reports Reuters AP Newsletters

Posted on 7 June 2025

Google’s Gemini app has recently introduced an exciting new feature that aims to enhance its functionality for everyday tasks. This update, which is currently rolling out to users with a premium subscription, allows for “scheduled actions,” enabling the assistant to perform specific tasks at designated times or on a recurring basis. The most significant aspect of this feature is its cross-platform support.

Users on both Android and iOS can utilize scheduled actions, expanding its accessibility. By integrating this capability, Google ensures that a wider range of users can benefit from Gemini’s proactive assistance. Scheduled actions are designed to streamline routine tasks without requiring user prompts.

For instance, users can now request Gemini to provide daily summaries of their calendars and unread emails, compile weekly lists of blog ideas, or keep them updated on their favorite sports teams. The feature also accommodates one-time tasks, such as generating summaries the day after an event. To use this feature, users simply need to instruct Gemini to perform a task at a specified time or convert existing requests into scheduled ones.

A dedicated “scheduled actions” section in the app’s settings gives users greater control over these functionalities. This update reflects Google’s ongoing effort to make Gemini a more personal and effective daily assistant. As regular users of the app, we view these enhancements as practical improvements.

They align with real-life routines and can be particularly useful for managing work, organizing household tasks, or remembering recurring activities. For eligible users, there’s no need to download a new version; simply open the Gemini app, command it to schedule a task, and it will handle everything from there. With scheduled actions, Google is further positioning Gemini as a valuable tool for simplifying daily responsibilities.
