Google Enhances Pixel Experience with New Gboard Features, Including AI Innovations

Posted on 20 June 2025

Google is set to enhance Gboard with a variety of new features, some of which are based on artificial intelligence. Recent discoveries by code sleuth AssembleDebug in the latest Gboard beta version point to potential additions that promise to improve user experience. One of the anticipated features is a favorites list for the popular Emoji Kitchen. This feature allows users to combine different emojis, often leading to amusing results.

By having a dedicated page for saved emoji combinations, users will find it easier to access their top picks whenever they wish to use them. Another notable feature is “SmartEdit,” designed to streamline the editing process. This will enable users to add, remove, or replace specific words through voice commands. While this feature will enhance the existing vocal command capabilities of Gboard, it’s important to note that any edits made will be sent to Google along with the editing commands.

Additionally, Gboard’s Smart Reply feature, which generates contextually relevant responses to messages, is set for some usability improvements. Currently, the process of disabling this feature requires multiple steps through the settings menu. Google recognizes the need for a more straightforward approach and is working to simplify it significantly. Furthermore, there are rumors of a new capability for Pixel users that would help them complete tasks without the need to switch between apps.

Tentatively named Magic Cue, this feature could allow users to pull information, such as flight details, directly from their Gmail inbox. This would save time by making such information readily available to insert into conversations, enhancing efficiency. The introduction of these features is expected alongside the upcoming Pixel 10 series, slated to be unveiled on August 20th and released on August 28th.
