The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is making headlines as two variants have recently surfaced in the IMEI database. This development signals that Samsung is moving forward with the production of the Galaxy S26 models, including the Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The respective model numbers are SM-S947U for the Edge variant and SM-S948U and SM-S948N for the Ultra, where the “U” indicates a model aimed at the US market, while “N” is for South Korea. Notably, both Edge and Ultra models are lined up for a simultaneous reveal, which is a change from Samsung’s previous strategy of staggered launches.
This decision likely aims to streamline marketing efforts and enhance global availability. The rapid development of the S26 Edge less than a month after the Galaxy S25 Edge was released fuels speculation that Samsung may discontinue the Galaxy S26 Plus model.
Though the disappearance of the Plus variant seems likely, it is still possible that Samsung could retain it and simply expedite the launch of the Edge model. The S26 series is expected to feature either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or the Samsung Exynos 2600, contingent on the market.
The recent IMEI certification timeline suggests that the launch might not occur as early as some had speculated. In terms of specifications, there are rumors that all variants may offer configurations with 16GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to maintain its 5,000mAh battery, but it might lose the S Pen slot, while the base model could introduce a new ISOCELL GN sensor for its camera capabilities. As developments unfold, it remains to be seen how these models will shape up in the competitive smartphone landscape.
