Visible, the budget carrier owned by Verizon, has recently introduced support for Android smartwatches, specifically for Google Pixel Watch users. This update has been well-received by Android users who have been hoping for similar functionalities that Apple Watch users have enjoyed. With this new feature, Pixel Watch users can connect their devices to Visible’s services for an additional $10 per month under the standard Visible and Visible+ plans.
Those subscribed to the premium Visible+ Pro plan can access this feature at no extra cost. To begin using the smartwatch service, users need to pair their Pixel Watch with their Android phone, followed by accessing the Pixel Watch app. After going to Watch Settings and selecting Mobile Network, users can sign in to their Visible accounts and complete the setup process.
However, it’s important to note that, at the moment, Visible does not sell compatible smartwatches directly; users must already have a suitable device. Despite this advancement, many users are voicing concerns about the absence of support for Samsung Galaxy smartwatches, which are among the most popular Wear OS devices in circulation. The community is hopeful that Galaxy Watch compatibility will be introduced soon.
A Reddit user speculated that the reason for prioritizing Pixel Watches may be linked to Google’s involvement in facilitating their functionality with Verizon MVNOs like US Mobile and Visible, which might explain the delay for Samsung. Currently, only Pixel Watch 2 and newer LTE models are supported, marking a limited yet significant move by Visible to broaden its offerings beyond mobile phones. As Samsung Galaxy Watch users await potential support in the future, it remains clear that the demand for expanded compatibility continues to grow.
