Apple’s latest app update simplifies following tennis, just in time for Wimbledon!

Posted on 25 June 2025

In anticipation of Wimbledon, Apple has updated its free Apple Sports app to enhance the experience for tennis fans. This latest addition brings real-time scoring capabilities for both Grand Slam and 1000-level tournaments, starting with Wimbledon 2025.

With this update, tennis enthusiasts can now track every point in men’s and women’s singles matches. The scores update live, similar to the real-time data available for other sports leagues supported by the app like the NBA and NFL.

Fans can conveniently follow their favorite players throughout the tournament, from the initial rounds to the finals. Additionally, the Apple Sports app has undergone a redesign, offering a more user-friendly home screen layout.

Events are grouped by league, allowing fans to arrange their preferred order. Users can pin their favorite teams to the top of the screen, ensuring quick access to scores and match updates.

The app also features Live Activities for tennis matches. This means that fans receive real-time notifications on their iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch, enabling them to keep up with the action without having to frequently check the app.

Moreover, the Game Card Sharing option allows users to share matchup cards with friends, enhancing the social aspect of following sports. Although the app does not currently provide video highlights or in-depth analysis, it prioritizes quick score delivery and essential match statistics.

It’s designed for fans who prefer straightforward, real-time updates. Since its launch earlier this year, the Apple Sports app has gradually expanded its offerings.

With the introduction of tennis support, revamped home screen customization, and efficient score tracking, the app caters to a wider audience. For those seeking a simple way to stay updated during Wimbledon, this update arrives at an opportune moment, marking a significant step in Apple’s effort to establish a reliable sports platform for iPhone users.
