Apple has reportedly decided to delay the launch of two AI-enhanced applications until the release of iOS 27 next year. This decision means that these much-anticipated applications will not be part of the upcoming iOS 26 updates, which are expected to be announced during the WWDC Keynote. Among the features affected is the so-called “personal” Siri, a digital assistant that aims to provide more personalized responses by accessing past texts, emails, and other apps. This enhancement gained attention through a promotional video featuring actress Bella Ramsey, who faced difficulties remembering someone’s name.
However, due to the delay, Apple has since removed the advertisement and the exact timeline for the new Siri capabilities is still uncertain. Recent indicators suggest that these features may not become available until mid to late 2026. Moreover, Apple has postponed additional functionalities that would allow Siri to comprehend on-screen content and respond to user queries more effectively. The introduction of a more advanced version, referred to as LLM Siri (Large Language Model Siri), may be up to two years away, potentially enabling Siri to operate similarly to popular generative AI platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, AI-enhanced versions of both the Calendar and Health apps will not be highlighted during this year’s WWDC. Instead, these updates have also been pushed to iOS 27, which has the nickname “Buttercup,” a playful reference to the song “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations. As for the Mac, macOS 27 is affectionately dubbed “Honeycrisp.” Additionally, interested users should be prepared for the iOS 26 beta release that will follow the Keynote.
To participate, one needs to be a part of the Apple Beta Software Program. It’s advisable to back up data before installation, given that initial beta versions can often be unstable.
