The Honor Magic V5 is poised to make waves in the foldable smartphone market when it is released this June. This device aims to be the thinnest foldable available, surpassing not only its predecessors but also its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Officials from Honor have confirmed that the Magic V5 will be unveiled in the first half of the year, and it is touted to be “the lightest and thinnest” foldable on the market. Initially, the Honor Magic V5 will launch in China, but a global release is anticipated shortly thereafter.
Currently, there are no significant launch events planned for May, leading to speculation that the reveal will occur in June. To claim the title of the world’s thinnest foldable, the Magic V5 needs to be thinner than its predecessor, the Magic V3, which is 9.2mm thick.
Reports suggest that it will achieve this with a thickness of less than 8.9mm. Samsung has plans to launch its latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, in July.
The Z Fold 7 is rumored to measure 8.9mm, creating pressure on Honor to keep the Magic V5’s thickness below this threshold. Currently, the thinnest foldable on the market is the Oppo Find N5, measuring 8.93mm thick.
In addition to its slim design, the Magic V5 is expected to be equipped with a substantial 5,950 mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the 5,150 mAh battery found in the Magic V3. Honor’s innovative approach allows for both enhanced battery life and a thinner profile.
Furthermore, credible reports have indicated that the Magic V5 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and support BeiDou satellite messaging, promising an impressive array of capabilities for users.
